50th wedding anniversary party (22 guests in restaurant)

by Ingrid

We plan to host and pay for our 50th anniversary party and would like to know if we have to be there at the restaurant first and also have to stay until everybody is gone? We are both over 80 years old.

Thank you

Celebration Hosts
by: Ms P Etiquette

Hello Ingrid~

Congratulations! How lovely to celebrate 50 years of marriage.

I suggest you ask at least two people you both love, to substitute host for you at times during the event. I think you are entitled to make a entrance instead of being the greeter. Then stay as long as you are comfortable, make your goodbyes, and ask all to stay to enjoy the rest of the evening. Your stand in hosts can see the party to the end. All this is very appropriate. In fact, it is a perfect example of practical etiquette.

Enjoy your special celebration!
