Glove Wear
by: Ms P Etiquette

Hello Jane~

Long ago, the wearing of gloves while eating was more health etiquette than a statement about formal wear. When men and women did not practice the good hygiene we do today, it was a kindness to others at the table to hide poor nail or hand care.

However, today this is no longer an issue. Removing one's gloves during tea when food is also served is proper etiquette. If one is only sipping tea without any edibles, then it is the wearer's choice.

Thank you for this question. it has been quite a while since this issue has been raised.

Thank you for your question,

Ms Practical Etiquette
