Baptism gift or not?

by Nancy
(Atlanta)

We are close friends of the grandparents of the baby being baptized, but are not invited to the ceremony. However, we have been invited to have dinner the night before the baptism with the grandparents. Should we bring a gift for the baby?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello Nancy~

I do believe this occasion is an intimate one since you share a close friendship with the baby's grandparents. The gracious way to help celebrate this blessed event would be to bring something for the baby. What you bring or how much it costs are not important. That you demonstrate your understanding of the importance of the event in the lives of your friends is what truly matters.

Thank you,

Ms Practical Etiquette
