Blended Family Engagement Party

by Alex West

A cousin of mine has recently gotten engaged. Her fiancé has a young daughter from a previous marriage. Should I include his daughter as a gift recipient? There will be an engagement party, shower, and of course the wedding I have to buy for. They have been living together for some time and will not be buying a new house as many newlyweds do, so I'm not sure what an appropriate gift would be.

Alex,

The engaged couple are those being hosted at this engagement party. They are the ones to be gifted. It would not be appropriate to include a child on a card or a card with a gift. As far as a gift is concerned, buy them something you would like to have yourself. That never fails to please.
