Invited to company owners sons wedding. Evening outdoor event. Many business and local political figures will be there. Yet relaxed down to earth hosts with class. What do I wear? How long should I stay? How much $$ gift?

Wedding Gift

Hello invited employee,

You have several questions but not many facts so I am going to take a stab in the dark.

Your attire should be business/evening wear. Although the people involved are relaxed, easy folks, the occasion calls for respect indicated by your attire and behavior. A suit with a tie, shined shoes, proper haircut and a clean shaven face are your attire list.

You cannot go wrong if you notice when people are beginning to leave the affair. That is a good time to consider leaving without feeling rushed to do so.

Gift etiquette does not come with a price tag.

Give what you feel is appropriate, an amount you can afford and do not worry about what others may think. Gift giving should come from generosity not from rigid rules.

Have a great time!

Ms. Practical Etiquette
