Bridal Shower

Can you invite persons to a Bridal shower and not invite them to the wedding?

The Brides parents have friends they are inviting to the wedding. We are thinking of inviting the adult children to the bridal shower but not the wedding. Is this an error?

In a word, yes. Asking for participation in a bridal gift giving event while being excluded from the wedding invitations is very poor manners, indeed. These "Adult Children" should receive a formal invitation, if only on the invitation sent to the parents, ie. Mr and Mrs Smith and Family. Not all will attend. But unless included in the main event, it is terribly gauche to expect them to participate in the bridal shower.

Thank you for this bringing this interesting situation to my attention.
