Can bride/graphic designer design her shower invitations?

by Peggy
(Southington, CT)

Hello, I am getting married soon and I am a graphic designer. I designed my own wedding invitations. My fiance's cousin is throwing a shower for me and she asked me if I'd like the opportunity to design my shower invitations so that they match - at least somewhat - the unique wedding invitations that I designed. I'd *love* the opportunity to design my shower invitations but I don't want it to look as if I am throwing my own shower. Would it be poor form etiquette-wise if I designed my own shower invitations? I would most certainly make sure that it's indicated on the shower invitation that the person throwing the shower is my fiance's cousin.

Dear Peggy

Your shower and wedding already sound like a blast!! What energy you are putting into the visual esthetics! It is a gift to the recipients.

I really don't think this is an etiquette question as much as it is design consultation with the shower giver. How lovely of her to ask if you wanted to do the graphic! Whether anyone thinks you are throwing your own shower or not, the art work will be fabulous!

Certainly, indicating the name of the hostess on the invitation will suffice to dispel that illusion anyway.

Design away, and warm wishes for a long life of love and happiness.
