Christening crosses

by Elena
(Zajechowski)

I am going to be Godmother to my little nephew. I am Greek Orthodox and the baby will be christened in the Episcopalian Church. I need to know what the difference,if any, is between a christening cross and a regular cross? Thank you. Elena Zajechowski

Dear Elena,

I am afraid I cannot accurately answer this question as I am not an expert on religious customs or artifacts. I suggest you ask your own priest or the Episcopal priest. This way you will receive an informed answer.

Please let us know what you find. I am very interested.

Editor's Note: A Christening Cross is one that may allude to the guardian angel or a picture of a small child praying in front of the cross. Go to this page:

Scroll down to a red box called "Catholic Company". Click on it and then do a search on Baptism Crosses. There you will find a wide selection.
