Christmas gifts

by James
(Baltimore)

My ex has remarried and had two additional children with her new husband. When I buy a Christmas gift for my child, must I buy gifts for her new children(my childs half siblings)as well? The children are all about 2 years apart in age.

Christmas Gifts
by: Ms P Etiquette

James,

If all the children will be receiving the gifts together, it would be kind to have little gifts for the other children when you give your special gift to you child. First, this is respectful of your child's relationship with half siblings, a genuine family connection. Secondly, it would be poor manners to have the other kids feel left out.

Most often, children do not look at the dollar value of a gift, but at the warm and fuzzy feeling inclusion brings.
