Give late wife's engagement ring to new fiancée

by Cliff Feightner
(Homosassa, FL)

What is "good form"? Can I give my late wife's (of 43 years) engagement ring to my new fiancée? She (20 years younger than I), was a close friend of both of us prior to my late wife's passing from cancer? I don't want to damage my new relationship, or to sully the memory of my dear late wife. HELP please advise

Engagement Ring
by: Ms P Etiquette

Hello Cliff,

Please give your new fiance a new ring. Aside from the etiquette of this situation (a no-no) I doubt your new bride wants to receive a hand-me-down ring, no matter how close she was the three of you before your deceased wife's passing. You are beginning a new life, so treat it as one!

Best wishes to you both.
