Grandmother of the Bride to be on her fathers side.

by Megan
(Georgia)

I received an invitation to my granddaughters Bridal Shower. The invitation said the couple is not registered anywhere because they want cash money instead as they have been living together for the past 2 years.

I have 2 questions:

What amount of money is appropriate for a Bridal Shower" ?

And what amount of money is appropriate for the wedding?

Bridal Shower Gift
by: Ms P Etiquette

Dear Megan,

My question is what amount of poor manners does it take to request money for a Bridal Shower!? If a couple ask for cash as a wedding present, although crass, is not impossible. The amount of money you give is up to you. There are no rules for gift giving. Give from your heart an amount you can afford. I cannot advise you on the Bridal Shower question except to refer you back to the first sentence in this answer.

Thank you for this thought provoking question.
