Greeting a couple.

When out in public people will greet my husband by his name and completely ignore me. Why do some people do this?

Dear Kathleen,

I cannot answer for everyone's rude behavior. Never is it proper to ignore someone in our immediate conversation circle. To do so makes one feel awkward and overlooked which is indeed poor manners! The next time this happens, simply introduce yourself in an effort to avoid any embarrassment for your husband or the third person.

Graciousness is always appropriate.
