My husband (of 20 years) suddenly lost his son.

His ex wife is requesting sympathy cards that were addressed/mailed to us so she can write out Thank you cards! Which we have already taken care of. Really? Is this normal? While I don't want to hurt her feelings she needs to understand that (she ended the marriage) we have a life together and that it would not be appropriate to send thank you cards out that were not addressed to her. Or am I out of line here?

Hello Cindy,

No, you are not out of line. It is poor manners to respond to mail received by others. If she wishes to write to some of her friends thanking them for supporting her during this time she can certainly do that.

I hope this helps.
