“COMPANY” would like to take this opportunity to remind all employees that Monday January 21, 2013 will be a Federal Holiday in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr's birthday.

“COMPANY” does not offer this holiday as a Paid Employee Benefit however, “COMPANY” does require that all employees refrain from any negative or derogatory comments / statements referencing the holiday or any employee or individual who may wish to recognize this holiday in their own personal ways or beliefs.

“COMPANY” appreciates your cooperation with this issue and as always- Thanks for all you do!!

I have seen many of these posting, but without the "derogatory comments warning", as many companies treat MLK Day as an optional holiday. As I do not know the company, I am not sure what compelled them to make that statement unless there have been issues in the past. It seems unfortunate that people must continue to be reminded about acting professionally in the work environment. Hopefully, one day, this will not be necessary.
