Hello Ilene~

Is there a question here that I’ve missed? Or shall I just comment on the situation?
One couple either misunderstood the invitation or purposely broke the rule of etiquette regarding uninvited guests. However ...

Who paid for the dinner? If each couple paid for their own, then it is really not a big deal at all unless everyone agreed to leave the kids at home.
