Hello Card Recipient,

You are not obligated to do so, but it is polite to remember to thank the giver when you see or hear from them. You can also telephone to say thank you, if you wish.

This is where I think texting comes in handy. I'm well known among my extended family for sending cards for many occasions. I don't expect an acknowledgement but I love it when they text me to say they got the card and add an emoticon. It's makes it easier for teenagers and young adults to say thank you. And, I love to text, too even though I'm 69 years old.
