asking for cash?

by Chaney

My fiancé and I have lived together for several years. During that time we have accumulated all the household items we could ever need or want.

How do we ask guest for cash, not gifts? Is there a proper way to do this? Or are we stuck registering for more towels and dishes? (We don’t want to be rude, but we really don’t need more house items.)

Hi Chaney,

Congratulations of your impending wedding.

When couples find themselves in the situation you do, where you've been together and already have many of the household items they already need, they do prefer cash versus another towel, as you put it. Do not put it on your wedding invitation. Instead, either spread it by word of mouth or put it on your wedding website, should you have one.

Best of luck with the planning for the wedding and your future together.
