Bridal Shower

by Bernadette
(Rye, NY)

Is it in poor taste to host a bridal shower for my daughter one week before another family member has her bridal shower? The family member is getting married first (by about a month). The maid of honor is away in college and it is costly to fly her home-she will be home the week before the family member's shower and I was hoping to schedule according to the maid of honor's availability.

Bridal Shower Timing
by: Ms P Etiquette

Dear Bernadette,

Thank you for your question. Given the logistics, it should not be an issue. Perhaps explain to the other family member that this is due to the timing of the availability of the maid of honor and it is not intended to take anything away from their wedding. I am sure they will understand.

Enjoy both showers and congratulations on your daughter's impending wedding!

Bridal Showers A Week Apart
by: Pimmsy

Congratulations on your daughter's upcoming wedding/marriage.

First, there is nothing wrong with saving money. If it is convenient and there are some cost savings involved with having the shower a week apart from another bride, then do it! Saving money never goes out of style and with the high cost of weddings and everything they entail, including the bridal shower and such, there is no shame in wanting to save money here and there when possible.

I would invite the other bride to the shower if she isn't already on her way to the honeymoon and I would make sure your bride's shower doesn't conflict with any of the festivities of the other bride - not to steal her thunder or make guest choose between the two.
