Dining Manners

by Lois Arbuckle

I have a long-time female friend with whom I frequently dine with at upscale restaurants. Although this person has traveled extensively and is financially able to afford fine dining, I find her etiquette in social situations somewhat lacking. She often will make comments regarding my order and she will also approach other diners unknown to her regarding their food. I find this embarrassing and unacceptable. Please give me your opinion. Thank you!

Dear Lois,

I would find this embarrassing as well. Perhaps you can take your friend aside, in the nicest way, and suggest that you find this embarrassing and ask her to stop doing this. Hopefully, since you are long time friends, she will take you advice without incident.
