Dinner Guest(s)

by Ada

My neighbor helps me do a lot of things around the house. I told him I wanted to treat him to dinner. THe problem is he doesn't do anything without his mother. Should I invite her too and pay for her dinner as well?

Dear Ada,

Thank you for your dinner. The decision is up to you. There is no etiquette guideline that will firmly decide one way or the other. I am sure part of the reason he is helping you is due to the good training by his mother, so it may be a good way to thank both of them by inviting both of them to dinner. Recognizing the artist is just as important as recognizing the painter.

Have a wonderful day!
