Good baptism gift?

My husband and I have been asked to be godparents. We are very honored and plan on making the 4 hour trip in a month. The 7 year old girl we are now going to be godparents to is being baptized at the same time as her newborn brother and he will have different godparents. Our familly (we have two kids close in age) and their family usually do mini vacations a few times a year and my husband and the father grew up together. My questions are about giving gifts. I was thinking a silver cross pendant/necklace for her. Is that an appropriate gift from godparents or is that something the parents or grandparents would give? Should we also get a little something for the little brother or the rest of the family?

Baptism Gift
by: Ms P Etiquette

Dear godparents,

What an honor it is to be chosen by a child’s parents as a spiritual guardian. Congratulations! The silver cross is a lovely gift idea. The infant being baptized needs no gift, but a personal card to the parents is appropriate. Any little gift you wish to bring to the infant is fine, just not necessary. Give from your heart and you won’t go wrong.
