My daughter just moved out on her own and purchased her first home. My niece has moved out of her home and will be rooming with my daughter.

We had initially planned a housewarming party for my daughter, but now that my niece has moved in should the party be for her as well.

Both of them are young and just starting out. I feel if I do not include my niece their will be hurt feelings. What do you suggest?

House Warming
by: Ms P Etiquette

How thoughtful of you to understand this dynamic. However, I doubt your niece expects to be guest of honor at a housewarming for your daughter and her new house. They are not a couple, but landlord and tenant. However, including your niece in some of the gift giving would be lovely. Acknowledging your delight that they are enjoying this new house together with a gift or two for your niece is quite acceptable.
