inlaws planned their 50th anniversary party on fathers day

Is it rude that my inlaws planned their own 50th anniversary party on fathers day. It is not their actual anniversary that day.

50th Anniversary Party Date
by: Ms P Etiquette

Hi,

Thank you for your question. People will generally plan events for a date convenient for most people. A 50th Wedding Anniversary is a big achievement. It is unlikely they choose that date to slight anyone, and as their intentions were pure, to celebrate a big day in their life with friends and family, rude would be a harsh tag to put in this. I am sure your dad would be just as happy to see you on the day before Father's Day (June 15) as he would to see you on the day (June 16) itself.
