my mother-in-law wants an invite to my sisters wedding

by upset daughter-in-law
(chino hills, ca)

My mother-in-law is asking me to ask my twin sister if she is being invited to my twin's wedding. My mother-in-law has known the groom for over 17 years, but lately has not been social with him or my sister. My husband feels that it is entirely appropriate to ask this question, and because he dislikes my family and refuses to spend time with them, I'm worried a no, even the most polite of no's will be taken very dramatically by both my in-laws and husband.

Wedding Invitation List

Dear daughter,

I agree with you. It is rude to approach anyone with inquiries about the content of their invitation list. Within the a contentious family setting it is most inappropriate since it is considered poor manners to cause distress in any social gathering.
