should I buy a gift

by Candy

My daughter is getting married in a few months. I have spent a few holidays with my future son-in-laws mom and we stay in touch periodically via social media/internet messaging. I thought it would be nice to give a small gift to her, just from me, to acknowledge and celebrate our new family connection. Is this an acceptable gesture? If so, what type of gift would be appropriate?

Not only is this acceptable, it is a kind and generous demonstration of your friendship. Any small gift that fits your budget is fine. Avoid selecting a large, expensive. That would not be appropriate. Perhaps elegant writing paper would be well received.
