signing gift cards

Is it appropriate to continue to sign your adult children's names to gifts you are giving? At what age should that stop? I have a friend who's doing this and her kids sre in their 40's.

Card Signing
by: Ms P Etiquette

Hello Signing cards,

Personally, I feel children should sign their own names to cards and gifts as soon as they can write their name, even if it is still just a scrawl. This is part of teaching practical etiquette. They should also write their own thank you notes as soon as they are able. Having said that, I cannot actually answer your question. Once adult family members have taken up the responsibility of signing for the children there is no rule regarding when to stop. It is the signers choice.

Thanks for this most interesting question!
