Step mother to the groom

by Cindy
(Lenoir, NC)

The brides parents have invited us to a dinner party at their Country Club in honor of my future daughter in-law and her sister's weddings. Do I bring a hostess gift or gifts for the brides or do not bring a gift?

Hostess Gift
by: Ms P Etiquette

Hello Cindy,

This is a tough question. In a world of perfect etiquette, you would be told ahead of time what is expected. Since this is not the case, you must do what you feel is right. If you do not know the sister of your future daughter-in-law perhaps bringing gifts would be awkward? If you feel comfortable bringing gifts to the brides to be, do so. I do not believe a hostess gift is necessary at a country club dinner. Good luck!
