Thank you card for Graduation gifts after someone dies

I received a Graduation card from a family friend and her husband. Her husband just died should I put both of their names on the thank you card?

Addressing Thank You Note
by: Ms. P Etiquette

Hi Doug,

Congratulations on your recent graduation!

This is a difficult situation. Address the card to the family friend but acknowledge her husband's passing and express sympathy. Perhaps you can write something like:

Dear (Whatever you call her),

Thank you to both you and (husband) for attending my graduation party (or just acknowledge the gift). I am very sorry for (husband's passing)…

I hope this helps. Best of luck with your future endeavors.
