birthday gift for wife?

by jason

My wife and i separated 2 weeks ago. Her birthday is in the beginning of April and i am wondering if i am obligated to buy her a gift? She made it clear that there will be no reconciliation, so i find myself in a dillema. I don't feel any resentment towards her as the decision was mutual, but i don't want to send a message that can be misinterpereted. ie: here is a gift meaning i want to work it out, or the other side of the coin, your getting nothing because i hate you.

Birthday Wishes

Jason,

One should give a gift from the heart. If heart is willing, give your wife a birthday gift to mark her special day. I think it would be quite appropriate. On the note or card accompanying the gift, simply wish her a happy birthday. Because you have known each other well, you will know how to word the note to convey your sentiment without giving the impression there is another meaning behind the gift giving.

Thank you for this interesting question.

I wish you well.
