Cancel Wedding RSVP

I accepted an invitation to a wedding (sit down dinner) and I find I must cancel. I am a friend of the groom's mother, but other than that, know no one, including the bride and groom. I would rather not make a phone call, but would like to write a note. What should it say?

Dear Must Cancel,

Thank the person for the invitation. Say how disappointed you are that you’ve discovered you cannot attend. Ask them to accept your apology for any inconvenience. Sign by sending them your warmest wishes on the important occasion.
