Etiquette for High School graduate announcement

Is it proper to send an announcement card to father and his new wife? Daughter did not want her father's new wife to attend to graduation. She wrote "Daddy" on card. I think she should write, " Mr. and Mrs. Smith".

Dear Mom-

This is a situation often repeated at this time of year.

Your daughter, I assume, is at least 17 if she is graduating from high school. This is a good time for her to learn the mature, adult etiquette in a blended family situation. While she may have feelings preventing her from wanting her Dad's new wife at her graduation, good manners dictate she invite both of them. Gracious behavior is the hallmark of Practical Etiquette.

Congratulations!
