Etiquette on timely thank you notes for shower & wedding gifts

by Row

Is there a definette time limit as to when thank you cards should be sent after the shower & wedding, other than ASAP? Just wondering if I should start prodding my daughter in-law, or mind my own business? She's been right on top of everything else etiquette, but now seems a little lax, (although I understand she's working on them). Showers were nearly three months ago & wedding was two months ago...

Dear Row,

It is understood that a bride and groom are starting a new life after the wedding. It is polite to send thank you notes as soon as possible, however, there is a year grace period before a late note becomes a faux pas. If your daughter-in-law is "working on them" at this time, she is ahead of most!! And please, do not interfere. That's not a good way to begin a life long relationship! I admire your restraint to date!
