In this situation, the best you can do is ask the person with whom you have a close relationship what he or she would like you to do for him or her. That would be your daughter in this instance. Practical etiquette is not a set of rules. It is a guide to help make our lives and the lives of those we love easier and pleasant. If you daughter would like your company, that is what you do.
