Graduation party-who to invite and who not?

by Madeline
(Denver, CO)

My daughter is graduating from law school and we are going to have a party. We know we will invite family and close friends but my husband wants to invite some golf buddies and wives as well as some attorney's he is friends with. My concern is that many of these people do not personally know my daughter and I want to know if this is appropriate? We will be saying "no gifts please."

Ask your daughter for input

Hello Madeline~

Since the honoree is an adult, asking her how she feels about people not known to her being invited to her celebration. As long as you are asking guests to not bring gifts, it is appropriate to ask anyone she approves. Perhaps your husband's friends will be good networking fodder for the beginning of her career in the law.

Congratulations on your happy occasion!
