Grandfather of his newborn granddaughter, Lucy, would like to put flowers in the church in her honor. Grandmother died several years ago. Grandfather has had a "commitment ceremony" to another woman. How should he write the entry:
The flowers today are given in honor of .....

Hello Sarah,

What a lovely gesture from Lucy's grandfather!
The wording of the entry is not as important as how her grandfather wishes it to read. If he gives these flowers to the church to honor the birth of his granddaughter, he may give them in his name alone, or include his new partner.
