GRANDMOTHER GIVES TO GRANDKIDS BUT NOT BOYFRIENDS KIDS

by j

I love my grandchildren and give them several gifts. My daughter has 3 kids by different men and still has relations with a different man. I don't feel I should have to buy the boyfriends kids school clothes or supplies when i buy my own grandkids. This is the 3rd instance of this from her and I told her no so now she wants to make my grandkids suffer and give back all the gifts for them unless i buy the other not related kids gifts or she will let them all wear the same clothes. These kids have mothers, fathers, grown sisters and aunts that are doctors. I'm 60 still working and wanting to retire but keep working to buy the clothes other kids wear so my grandkids will have the same and my daughter beleives whatever her boyfriend number 4 tells her to say. HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND! I don't want to give these kids money that I can spend on my own grandkids.

Family Gifts

Hello Grandmother J-

Your daughter is being unreasonable. However, your grandchildren belong to her and she seems determined to enforce her wishes. To expect you to give equal or like items to all the children is just silly. If you could give tokens gifts to the others so they don't feel left out, that could be a solution, but it seems as if she does not want that. So, your choices are clear, you either do as she demands or you don't.

The only thing I understand is that your daughter is spoiled and thinks only of herself as she walks through life. Her method of family building is proof of that.

Good luck.
