what should the grandmother wear to her 10 yr old grandson's baptism and first communion? The Catholic baptism is on a Sat at 11AM. Then we'l go to lunch at a nice restaurant. The first communion is on Sunday morning mass. Then we have a BBQ and pool party. Thanks.

Dear grandmother-

My, this sounds like a party! Two days of celebration is a substantial amount of fun time.

For the baptism on Saturday, dress like you would for a semi-formal luncheon. A tea length dress or suit is appropriate with modest accessories.

For Sunday morning mass followed by the BBQ and pool party dress comfortably if you go directly to the party from the church. If you have time to change after Mass, simply dress as you would for Sunday Mass to attend the First Communion. Then relax in an outfit suitable for an informal outdoor gathering.

Most of all, enjoy yourself and your grandson.
