Inviting someone you have never met to family dinner?

by Wendy
(Mansfield, OH)

My daughter has a new boyfriend and my husband and I have only met him once. Our daughter thinks his daughter should be present at our Thanksgiving dinner. Is this proper?

Thanksgiving Dinner

Wendy,

I see nothing wrong with including your daughter's boyfriend's child in your Thanksgiving. It is a kindness for your daughter as well as her new fellow.

Happy Thanksgiving,
