Ok to join a group or not?

by micki

When there is a particular group of friends that get together for coffee every week on the same day of the week, at the same time, same place. In the past, one of two from the group would reach out and ask someone to join them on that day, but it seems you need to be invited before just joining. So my question is: is it appropriate to join the group when you are not officially invited?

Formal Gathering = Formal Invitation
by: Ms P Etiquette

Micki,

Any formal gathering of a group may require an invitation. Since I do not know anything about the "group", it is impossible to answer your question. Use this guideline: If you are uncomfortable showing up uninvited, then don't. Ask a regular attendee of the group if you can join in on your own. If you need to be invited, find someone you trust in the group and ask to be her/his guest.

Thank you for your question.
