thanksgiving dinner

If I invite my family and we go out to a restaurant, do I need to pick up the tab for Thanksgiving?

Various Options
by: Ms P Etiquette

When planning family holiday events you have many options. Most will involve including your family in the decision making process. If you are the organizer and want help with the finances, offer your planning services while asking each family member if they would be willing to pay for their share. Or you can suggest the family get together at a restaurant, ask how they feel about that and offer to pay your and/or your immediate family's expenses. Alternatively, everyone can pool the money they each have to contribute and then select a venue that the money collected can afford.

As you can see, there are not hard rules of etiquette in this situation. Using common sense and cooperation will make the event memorable.

Kind regards,

Ms Practical Etiquette
