Wedding invite

by CJ MANDEL
(s.f., ca)

We are deciding to have a very intimate wedding...a ceremony and dinner for 45 at a lovely restaurant. Am I obliged to invite those who have invited me to theirs even though they may not be close friends? We are also thinking of having a party a month later also inviting those who we could not accommodate or did not include at the dinner... Or is that party necessary?

Thank you.

Dear CJ,

Your plan for an intimate wedding is lovely. You do not have to invite anyone who does not fit the close friend criteria. It is completely up to the two of you whether or not you have a party later. However, you could think of it as a celebration of your marriage rather than pay back for previous invitations. Graciousness is always in taste.
