When my boyfriend meets my dad at dinner for the first time, who should get the check?
I have been dating my boyfriend for about 7 months, and he will be going out to dinner with my father and I for the first time because my family lives out of state. My parents do not make very much money, and I would feel badly if my dad covered the bill. My boyfriend doesn't make very much money, and I would definitely feel badly if he got the check. Is it weird if I just pay it?

Paying the Check
by: Ms P Etiquette

Karla,

If your boyfriend agrees , then you certainly may pay the check. Arrange ahead of time with the server to give you the check directly or leave your credit card with the server before the meal so the check arrives at the table already in your name. Of course as an option, you can each pay for his or her own dinner.

I hope you have a lovely time!!
